A pledge for my writing

It feels odd to write this pledge and post it publicly, almost a bit shameful. But I have a strong desire to do it because I want to hold myself accountable.

Writing is beneficial for me. I've never been great at it, but I've always wanted to improve. Throughout high school and college, English was always my hardest subject, and I shied away from addressing that weakness. In fact, my college entrance essay was about how I struggled with English, and getting an A- in my English class was one of my proudest moments. It's also what led me to start this blog. I didn't want to be afraid of writing anymore - I just wanted to get better at it.

While I can say I feel comfortable writing today, AI has been a temptation because it makes it effortless to produce well-crafted articles. But I've struggled with writing for so long and put so much time and care into improving that I don't want to give it up so easily. Writing is thinking, and it's how I can express my identity. I don't want to surrender cognitively. I use AI every day, and I will continue to, but for writing, I'll leave it to my human brain to deal with.

Which leads me to my pledge. I pledge that I will never use AI to write any content on this blog. I will use it to generate ideas, explore topics, and learn faster, but I will write it in my own words and in my own voice. Everything that I produce here will be authentic and uniquely mine.
